the price

A shot of bullet, a merciless stab

And a world comes to an end

All it takes is a cold, stony heart

And that one fateful moment

To sweep away one universe

To destroy everything related

A thoughtless act eradicates a life

That was so thoughtfully created

Was it a right? We’ll never know

That ability to decide for others

But was it right? Definitely no

The tragedy that a lame excuse covers

The price of existence has come down to

Money, religion and the need for avenge

Blame it on the anger, pride or lust

Or simply the sweet smell of revenge!

Broken

The sound of it still lingers

The bits and pieces still scattered

The pain that came, when it shattered

From the eyes, flowing down like a river

Now dried up with the warmth of time

But still cold as ice, in a corner of mind

A revived memory from a forgotten past

An illusion that wouldn’t last

Like a vase, it broke

With one single movement

Never to be the same again

Never would it mend

Ended up on the floor like molecules of dust

Now blown away by the wind, is what I called TRUST

I live in a free world

Inside my mind

And float in the sea

Of words and rhyme

I paint my days

With colors of wine

And dance to the tune

Of the flowing time

With every song I sing, I create a symphony

And in every dream I see, I end an agony

In every breath, there’s harmony

And I live….

…with passion

This was written for The Poetry Potluck week 14

Happy Potluck!!

A Horrid Phenomenon

I sit with my fifth cup of coffee

And lean my back against the chair

I throw yet another paper

And pull every strand of my hair

I try to scribble something, anything

With a pen and notebook in my hand

I end up tearing that page too

And add to the pile in the trash can

I look for inspiration in every possible thing

And write one sentence about them each

But, it just doesn’t come out right

I forgot my words, someone please teach!

“It’s too late, you’ve wasted enough time.

Take rest, go to bed”, says my bedside clock

Yeah, may be rest is all I need

I suffer from a disease called “Writer’s Block”!!!

MY ANGEL…

Take me with you my angel
To a place nobody knows,
Where the sea of hatred ends
And the river of love flows

Take me to your land
Where my soul resides,
Where fear loses its grip
And hope becomes my guide

Take me to the winds
Carry me along as you fly,
Let my wishes be my wings
And my dreams the never ending sky

Hold me my angel
And always do so,
Never leave me alone
Even when life lets me go

This is an old but a very special poem of mine…it is one of the first poems I wrote when I tried my hand at poetry around two years back 🙂

memories of the night

It’s twelve midnight

As this urge I fight

To go near him

Drawn by his endearing sight

His body radiates a heat

I give in unable to beat

The magic of his persona

Always a delicious treat

Over him my fingers run

And then begins the endless fun

He shows me the world

As I sit here, stunned!

We share a connection so deep

But there’s a time to sow and a time to reap

So good night for today Mr. Laptop

You and I should both go to sleep!!!

A memory frozen in time

Those brown eyes alive as ever

The smile that fades never

That face of a four year old

Looks at me, through time’s million folds

The innocence of that face

Takes me back in time to a place

That no longer exists now

But manages to stay in my memory somehow

She asks me how I lived her life

I’m not sure…did I do it right?

Those years that passed between that picture and me

Did I do justice to them? Asks my frozen memory

Hi all!! I’m sorry for being away for so long. I was quite busy and was also having a bit of a writer’s block. Thank you for all the comments on my previous posts. I promise to reply and visit each and every one of you when I have the time.

I hope you liked this poem about a childhood picture of mine 🙂

Lots of love to all xoxoxo

…….a long time ago…..

Born in the mountains

As a tiny stream I flow

Destined to meet you

Following the only path I know

Forcing against the currents

Of the winds that come and go

Hoping someday you’d join me

Among the lands high and low

I would then cease to be a stream

And into a lovely river I’d grow

As we reach the sea, we’d be one

Like we were, a long time ago

And carrying the wisdom of the sea

Towards the sky’s heavenly glow

We’d fly once again

Like we did, a long time ago….

This was written for the Poetry Potluck 🙂 Hope you all like it!!

I am…..a rose

I was buried deep into the ground

In the dirty wet mud

I was bitten by the bitter snow

As I started to bud

I kept quiet as you stepped on me

Or chose to ignore me

I sobbed quietly resting on the womb

Of the earth that bore me

I did not ask the rain why it hit me

I knew I needed it to grow

I just listened as you complained

That my growth was too slow

I built a barrier of thorns around me

From the wounds that no one saw

And here I stand today…a beautiful rose

As you watch me bloom, with awe!
