in the core of darkness

This familiar whistle of the summer breeze

And with it the gush of memories

I relive them all, and as I fall

Into this eternal darkness of the night

I feel at ease, almost like home,

A comfort in the absence of light

As it opens its long black wings

In silence, my solitude sings

Songs that only I know, songs that I adore

The stillness of the night seems to play

Music, more soulful than any hum of the day

And in its embrace, I weep like a child

For I find solace at least for a while

It holds all my secrets, all my fears

Without judging, with no complaints

Strokes my hair, wipes my tears

As I hold on to that tiny thread

Uncertain of what lies ahead

A series of pictures runs through my mind

A black and white album from a different time

The present, however has a lot of grey

I hold on begging it to stay

With every plead, it moves further away

The  harder I grip, the more it slips

And I am left back in the arms of darkness

Yet I long for what doesn’t belong

To me…..

letting go…

I forgive you…..

For all the instances you let me down

For all  the times you weren’t around

For all the paths I walked alone

For all the battles I fought alone

For all the things you did me wrong

For all the pains I carried along

For all the days I longed for you

For all the nights when I was blue

For all the words that were said

For all the tears that I shed

For all the reasons that we fought

For all the blames that I got

For all the apologies that I made

For all the times you betrayed

All those moments that were lost

And wasted like a melting frost

Are running down my cheeks now

And for one last time, I allow

You to make me feel this way

And I forgive you…..

An orchestra

The rumble of the running train

The splatter of the pouring rain

Each creates a magical symphony

Not just a random noise in vain

The rustle of the autumn leaves

The chirping birds in spring eves

A different note, the same pattern

Interlaced in time as nature weaves

The bustle of the busy street

The flicker of the summer heat

The cry of a newborn child

The tapping of a dancer’s feet

Every sound there was and will be, is not lost, but stored rather safely

In the womb of time, in the form of rhyme

And songs that are a thousand years old, stories that have been told and retold

Of loves found and lost, of roads walked and crossed

Of peaceful days in white sands, of journeys made in alien lands

And of victories and defeats and loyalties and deceits

All floats around like the eons old wind,

Listen to it, it plays a song,

And when you hear it, sing along

For you play a part too, to help it carry on…….

And one fine day….

She looked ugly, she looked bad

Or so they said, ain’t it rather sad?

And all her life, she lived that way

Oh poor little duckling, what a price to pay

“She swims no good and she’s a duck”

They whispered and cursed her luck

“She looks no good”, the others said

“Her body is smaller than her head”

So she lived in a burrow hiding her face

Then one fine day, a miracle took place

She lost her ugly gray hair, all in one go

And instead grew feathers, as white as snow

She now became, what was meant to be

Not a duck, but a lovely swan you see!

And as they watched, much to their surprise

She gleamed to the colour of sunrise

And she soared, and she flew

To heavens, in sky bright and blue!

“…..I’ll be on my way…..”

She knew it was coming,

The sun was sinking in the west

Probably her last, it better be the best

From somewhere in that room, The Beatles play,

As the June light turns to moonlight I’ll be on my way

She heard them ringing,

In a Church the sound of prayer bells

How she longed to be there, but her heart tells

It was forbidden, why, she would never understand

She only did what many did to her, but they were not banned

She was now playing,

In her mind, the flashback of her life

Which was nothing but a never ending bitter strife

Between right and wrong, pain and pleasure, good and bad

And a wish for the moment, to live the dream that she had always had

She began singing

The songs about friends and false lovers

Who saved their love for under her blanket covers

And, would leave the following morning with a tip or two

Only to be replaced by another, just the same, yet how time flew

She was disappearing

In the darkness around her bed

She closed her eyes, the day is dead

In a corner of the room, The Beatles still play

As the June light turns to moonlight, I’ll be on my way

return of the season

The night gets darker, I walk by the moonlight

I feel your presence, yet I long for your sight

The small café on the other side of the road

Is still open, facing your quiet, lonely abode

The tired old autumn leaves fall to the ground

Waiting perhaps, to return as the seasons turn around

And among them I walk, feeling you by my side

Holding my hand, following the stars as our only guide

And they turn dim in the golden sky, the night is gone

I am still there waiting for you to be back to where you belong!

What goes around comes around

You say it’s unfair, that you didn’t deserve it

I know the perfect thing to say, but I won’t say it

A million flashbacks run through my mind

Would you please rewind your memory to the time?

When you thought the world revolved around you

Oh! I’m sorry, you still think so, don’t you?

Things are still the same, there is, but one difference

You have become the joke that you once made at others’ expense

Call me all the names in the world, I couldn’t care less

I have no role whatsoever; you asked fate for this mess

I’m now over with what you did, over with being hurt and bruised and battered

Remember it’s always mind over matter; now I don’t mind and you don’t matter

The face looking at you that you call ugly and full of terror

Is actually karma showing you the mirror 😉

Broken

The sound of it still lingers

The bits and pieces still scattered

The pain that came, when it shattered

From the eyes, flowing down like a river

Now dried up with the warmth of time

But still cold as ice, in a corner of mind

A revived memory from a forgotten past

An illusion that wouldn’t last

Like a vase, it broke

With one single movement

Never to be the same again

Never would it mend

Ended up on the floor like molecules of dust

Now blown away by the wind, is what I called TRUST

Passion

Poetry

Passion, dreams

Hobbies, entertainment

I live in a free world

Inside my mind

And float in the sea

Of words and rhyme

I paint my days

With colors of wine

And dance to the tune

Of the flowing time

With every song I sing, I create a symphony

And in every dream I see, I end an agony

In every breath, there’s harmony

And I live….

…with passion

This was written for The Poetry Potluck week 14

Happy Potluck!!

A Horrid Phenomenon

I sit with my fifth cup of coffee

And lean my back against the chair

I throw yet another paper

And pull every strand of my hair

I try to scribble something, anything

With a pen and notebook in my hand

I end up tearing that page too

And add to the pile in the trash can

I look for inspiration in every possible thing

And write one sentence about them each

But, it just doesn’t come out right

I forgot my words, someone please teach!

“It’s too late, you’ve wasted enough time.

Take rest, go to bed”, says my bedside clock

Yeah, may be rest is all I need

I suffer from a disease called “Writer’s Block”!!!
